2021年3月28日現在、新型コロナウイルスの蔓延で世界中が騒いでいます。日常会話の中でも頻繁に話題にあがりますし、今後、TOEICテストなどの問題文に出てくる可能性が高いのではないかと思い、基本的な単語・フレーズを押さえておきたいと思います。
新型コロナウイルス感染症：Corona Virus Disease 2019 を略してCOVID-19
COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus.
新型コロナウイルス感染症はウイルスによって引き起こされる病気です
virus：ウイルス (コンピュータ ウイルスも computer virus という)
disease：病気
The state of emergency was declared in January to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
新型コロナウイルス拡大を防ぐため、1月に緊急事態宣言が発令されました
a state of emergency：緊急事態
declare：宣言する
novel：小説。ここでは「新型の」「新しい種類の」の意味
Japan’s government has lifted the state of emergency in the metropolitan area on March 21.
日本政府は3/21に首都圏の緊急事態宣言を解除しました
lift：持ち上がる(自動)、持ち上げる(他動)。ここでは禁止令などを「解除する」の意味

このグラフを見ると、感染者数がまた増えると思うよ

infection：感染

マスク使い切っちゃった

run out of：使い果たす、不足する、切らす、駆け出す

検査の結果を表すときは
negative：陰性
positive：陽性
